Since waking up, Zidane had been having nothing but odd experiences. Naturally, some people cursed and spat at the site of him. That was nothing new. What was new, however, was that a lot of people didn't even give his tail a second look. Gold seemed to spend just as well here as it did back home, but that wasn't it, either. It wasn't until his first evening in the odd city that Zidane figured out why. From his high perch overlooking the town, he caught sight of a rather short, squat man, with legs like a goat and horns, too, leading around what looked like a girl with green hair. A tail might be more unusual that green hair, but he had nothing on the little goat man.
Of course, the oddest thing was a toss up between 'where am I' and 'how did I get here.' People dressed funny here. Togas were outdated anywhere else in the world, and he had seen nothing but sandals since he had landed. He couldn't even smell salt in the air. For Zidane, that was just an excuse to make his visit short lived.
There were benefits to being unusual, however. It helped this place avoid being boring. The brigand found unique and new foods, entertaining women, and plenty of spare gold that seemed to find themselves in the hands of undeserving owners. Being the kind Samaritan that he was, he took pity on the poor, neglected gold and liberated them. They didn't deserve the life they had.
Still, he did find plenty of things to be concerned about, too. There was talk of witches, gods, and monsters among the crowds, spoken not like superstition and more like factual fact. Monster hunting seemed like an ill-advised adventure of danger and glory. Naturally, Zidane had to do just that,
The boy made his way out past city walls and through a forest, his eyes surveying everything in sight. With any luck, he'd come across a monster soon.
