Physical Appearance

Ven stands at 5'6 and weighs approximately 115 lbs. He has blue eyes His hair is short, spiky, and feathery. Might be made from Chocobo feathers. He has a smile like sunshine, but he pouts like a kicked puppy.



Overview

If you were to watch Ventus for a day, you would probably describe him as sweet or kind. Ventus is deeply caring. When he grows to care for you, he invests entirely in you. He's encouraging, hopeful, steadfast, and loyal when it comes to these friendships. When it comes to strangers, he's friendly by default. He's always willing to help a stranger, and he'll never give up on a friend.



That said, it's not hard to hurt the boy's emotions, either. He's been known to feel rejected by those he cares most about. At one point, he even hit a moment where he questioned if he knew who his friends really were. He's also known to give into self-pity at his worst moments, though he's still reasonably easy to cheer up most of the time. He doesn't like being treated like a kid at all, either.



At the end of the day, he's stubborn in his resolve. When he makes up his mind, good luck changing it. He'll fight to the last breath when he feels he needs to and has before. Ven can get angry, but he also has shown the ability to step away from situations he knows he should avoid even when he doesn't want to. Of course, that's up to his interpretation, but it shows he has restraint when he needs it.

Ventus was a pupil of Master Xehanort. Xehanort attempted to drive Ventus to give into his darkness in the Keyblade Graveyard. Xehanort planned to use Ventus to forge the χ-blade there, which ultimately failed; Ventus would rather die than to give into his darkness. Xehanort eventually unlocked Ventus' heart and extracted the darkness, leaving Ventus with a heart of pure light. With the dark half in Ven's heart removed and given new life, it is here than Ventus as we know him was made.

The process left Ven's heart weak, with what remained of his heart slipping away. Fortunately, his heart managed to connect to the heart of a young Sora. This stopped Ven's heart from disappearing entirely and allowed it to start the process of healing. Xehanort brought an unconscious Ventus to Destiny Islands to spend his last hours. Before he left, however, Ventus managed to summon his Keyblade. Xehanort saw that he might still have a use and took him in.

In the next four years, Ventus was given to Master Eraqus to train. Much of his memory was gone, and pushing the subject of his earlier years proved too difficult for the boy and left him in pain and unconscious. When he woke, he was told that he had always been in the Land of Departure. He trained alongside Terra and Aqua, never far from Eraqus' side.

One day, Aqua and Terra were permitted to take their Mark of Mastery exam. While Ventus watched, the darkness in Terra's heart was revealed, and he failed his exam. When he went to his room, he found a boy in a mask that told him that Terra was leaving, and when Ventus next saw him, he'd never be the same. Unwilling to accept that answer, Ven ran off to find Terra, who promptly left. Ven followed though he ended up in a different world.

He spent the first length of his adventure searching for Terra. He helped many people along the way and saw what Terra had done. Still, he never doubted Terra. When he finally ran into Terra and Aqua again in Radiant Garden, he tried to travel with them, even after Terra and Aqua had a falling out. Unable to go with his friends and unwilling to go back, he left to make new friends.

Eventually, he came across one friend's star shard. After promising to bring him home safe, he left to find his friend. This led him to the Badlands of the Keyblade Graveyard, the site of the ancient Keyblade War. However, he also found Xehanort here. Xehanort explained to him that he needed him to fight the boy in the mask, Vanitas, who happened to have been made from the darkness extracted from Ven's heart. He revealed that Eraqus knew of Ven's given purpose, then opened a Corridor of Darkness and threw him into it to confront the man himself.

Ven did just that. Eraqus revealed that he knew about this, then made the decision that Ven must be destroyed. Just as Eraqus went to deliver the killing blow, Terra appeared and saved Ven. Ventus told Terra that Eraqus was right, but Terra didn't listen. Unwilling to let Eraqus destroy his friend, Terra opened a portal, pushed Ventus into it, then fought and slew his master.

The portal left Ventus in Destiny Islands. It was here that Ventus met Vanitas again. Vanitas demanded the Ventus fight and join with him, though Ven refused. Happy that Ven had reached his new level of strength but unwilling to accept that answer, he told Ventus to meet him in the Keyblade Graveyard where he would choke the life out of Aqua and Terra. Dutybound to protect his friends, Ventus left for the Keyblade Graveyard.

Here, Ventus met up with Aqua and Terra where he explained about the χ-blade. His friends promised that they would take care of him and that they would always find a way, but Ventus didn't listen. He knew he might have to fight Vanitas anyway, then asked them to put an end to him.

It was then that Xehanort and Vanitas appeared. A fight quickly ensued, and the three were split up. Xehanort froze Ventus, then dropped him off of a cliff. Aqua saved him and stayed by his side, though they were soon challenged by a scarred stranger. Frozen and unable to move, Ven could do little but demand he shut up and give him an angry look. He watched helplessly as Aqua fought the man. Though Aqua was victorious, she was caught off guard by Vanitas, who knocked her unconscious.

Using whatever will he had, Ven broke free from the ice and fought Vanitas to save Aqua. Though Ventus was victorious, he had done precisely what they wanted. Vanitas forced a D-Link on Ven and the two connected. While his body fought Aqua, his heart fought Vanitas, intent to destroy both of their hearts and the χ-blade with him. Ultimately, he succeeded.

Ven should have died right there, but Sora's heart saved him again. Ventus' sleeping heart stayed with Sora for years so that he could heal. It stayed that way for a decade until Sora released his own heart. This created his Nobody, Roxas. Ven's heart stayed with Roxas, where it is now.


New canon: Because of that fact, Roxas was able to restore Ven's heart and awaken him. Since that day, Ven and Roxas have been on many adventures. He's grown close to Roxas. He's also developed a bond with their frequent travel companion, Naminé. Still, Ven's heart is growing heavy with worry over Aqua, Terra, and Eraqus. Where are they?

Ventus typically wasn't one for research. Bookwork could be boring. It always had been. It most certainly would continue to remain boring in any future in any world. The fact that he was in Radiant Garden didn't help things in the slightest. It had been so long since he had been here! It might have been only a month or so since Ven had been here in his own mind, but it had been ten years in real time. That was enough time for a lot to change, and he wanted to see every corner of it. The familiar environment made Ventus want to walk around and let himself just be comfortable.

Sadly, he had other objectives. Ventus worked for a while; probably a good hour and a half of reading over irrelevant facts or minor details he knew by merely being trained under Eraqus. Still, he could only take so much before he needed a break. At first, he tried to note the changes in the place. It wasn't like he spent a ton of time here to build an accurate comparison, but it sure didn't feel very different. Once that got boring, he opted to just settle for a stroll.

He didn't have a destination in mind. Instead, he made sure just to hit a few of the most important places. Where he met Scrooge McDuck and obtained the tickets. Where he fought alongside Aqua and Terra. Where he fought Lea. It was all so plain, and so impossible to believe it was so long ago.

Finally, he found himself in the shopping district. He didn't have much memory here, given that he didn't shop once in Radiant Garden. Still, it was nice just to examine the people and their supply. There was no telling what there might be here to find.
