Overview: Advancing Characters

Chained Worlds allows you to grow and advance your character over the time you spend on the forum. The three main ways in which this will happen are through Level-up, gaining new Abilities, and upgrading Weapons. Some of these advancements will be automated, that is, determined by the site's mechanics, others will rely on player input and Staff action.

Levels and Level-up
Players level up automatically based on post count. Levels cannot be gained any other way. When you level up, you get rewards in the form of Ability Points, which you can then spend on Abilities. Your only responsibility as far as leveling up is concerned is creating a single thread unique to your character where you will post requests to have level up rewards, such as new abilities or fresh AP, added to your character's profile. Abilities
Players will use AP to purchase new abilities which will then become available for them to use in combat. You can upgrade previous abilities, create new ones, or even create joint abilities to use with teammates. As with level-up, you will need to create a thread specific to your character where you will make requests for new abilities. More on this will be found in the Abilities board.

Weapon Upgrades
Players can use materials bought from the munny shop, or rewarded from Thread Grades to upgrade their weapons. Special items also exist which can enhance a weapon, giving it special abilities such as elemental attack damage and the like. Again, players will be required to make a unique thread for posting these requests. This process is outlined in the Equipment board.

Stat Upgrades
Players can also use specific items to increase their character's base stat scores. These items can be purchased via the Munny Shop, or sometimes awarded as quest rewards. These items can be used via the Status board, the same way as Level ups, but it is important to note that no one stat value can be increased beyond 8 by items, or beyond 10 by accessories.

Optional Thread Grades
Players on CW have the option to ask for threads to be graded by staff. When these requests are made, staff will read through the thread and assign bonus rewards based on quality, enjoyment, and creativity. These grades are optional, arbitrary, and may be subject to wait times based on staff availability.
